PRACTICE AREAS

MEDIATIONS

Family Law, Business Law and most other areas of Legal Disputes.

Mediation is a process in which the parties to a legal dispute make their own decisions on the outcome of the case rather than having a judge decide.  Cases resolved through mediation have more detailed settlements and provide much greater satisfactory outcomes to the parties involved.  Over the last 25 years, I have served as a neutral mediator in over 3000 cases either pending in or to be filed in the courts of area counties.  I require that anyone seeking to mediate with me either have their own attorney or at least consult with an attorney, for as a mediator I cannot give legal advice.  My role is to facilitate negotiations between the parties and guide them toward settlement.

UNCONTESTED DIVORCES (No Minor Children)

Divorce can be a difficult and painful process, but it does not have to be nasty, spiteful or expensive.  I handle ONLY divorces that are at least reasonably amicable and try to keep the process as quick and simple as possible.  For parties who have basically agreed upon the terms of the divorce (e.g. debts, division of accounts, retirement assets, vehicles, etc.), I draft all required legal documents with great attention to detail and handle all filing and completion of the documents.  I am ethically allowed to represent only one party in the divorce, but try to keep the process simple while always encouraging the other person to be aware of his or her rights as well.  I do NOT handle contested, contentious or complex divorces.

BUSINESS FORMATION

As a small business owner for many years myself, I enjoy helping others create their own businesses, whether a Subchapter S Corporation, Limited Liability Company (LLC) or other small business entity.  Prior to meeting with me, I always ask potential small business clients to meet with their tax professional first to determine the best form of business for tax purposes.
